Spring is in the Air. And with it this unique influx of Energy in whatever we do. At least that's how I feel it.
Still lots of ice on the lake here and still snow in the air on certain days. But its a good and time of the year for me to see, feel and smell the change. I hope you can enjoy this too.
LOL, they are great ... By: ewsflys. on 14 Feb 12, 02:40:16 LOL, they are great. Took me years to get them. I just watch your Cajon solo on your channel ;-). Great instruction you do, I wish I'd started your age. Most of my vids are from last year. I just come back from Cuba where I took some Percussion lessons.? Just complementing my Hang and Halo with a Cajon. I'll post some new vids soon.
I can't get over ... By: Rossco9992. on 14 Feb 12, 02:34:35 I can't get over how amazing? the hang sounds!
more Arpeggio studies. That's a lot of fun, really !!!
And it creates muscle memory for the chord notes.
Next - chords and poly rhythms ...
..BTW..just came back from a 5 hour hike, so sorry for the bad hair day ... off to the shower now ;-). But I had to play this before the inspiration from the hike was lost ...
...recovering from being sick and sore and ended up playing just on one of the instruments more as moving between the two is still hurting my back ... so I explored the HALO's melodic possibilities on its own a bit more and found some nice intervals .. and there is much more. It's a HALO XXD
Just another musical idea which comes to mind when one is privileged to have a Halo and Hang drum around ;-). And yep, I am a very beginner percussionist yet, having tremendous fun doing this ;-). Enjoy.
ewsfly, sorry but I ... By: fluteCarrier. on 19 Jan 11, 07:09:43 ewsfly, sorry but I have no Hang & cello video.? You've confused me with someone else.
Saggio
@fluteCarrier, ... By: ewsflys. on 16 Jan 11, 22:26:17 @fluteCarrier, thanks, I am just? a beginner, committed to improvement. My Shang Diao Hang and the XXD Halo share lots of notes. Full c-minor, Eb major scale and course the modes in between. I made myself some crutches and developed a color code system for the scale degrees, making it easier (for me) to practice scales and chords (mainly dyads). But as I said, I am new to music and self-taught. And old ;-), Learning slow, forgetting fast. I watched your video Hang and Cello - absolutely great !
Sounds great!. I ... By: fluteCarrier. on 16 Jan 11, 15:58:50 Sounds great!. I just got a Golden Gate Halo & discovered that it has? some interesting correspondences with my 2nd gen D Hang.
thanks for your ... By: ewsflys. on 15 Jan 11, 21:38:59 thanks for your feedback. I am still experimenting on mic's. Best quality I get with my two AT4040. But when I make a youtube video I sometimes go directly from my HV20 camcorder's mic to iMovie on my Mac. That's fastest, least hassle. Or from my two AT4040 through the H4N into the external mic jack on the HV20. Biggest challenge,my FRIDGE, exceptionally noisy, and my MBP (MacBook) because it? runs its fan a lot and that's picked up by the mic's too. This one is HV20 mic only.
Very peaceful? song ... By: axildrum. on 15 Jan 11, 17:45:30 Very peaceful? song, thanks :)
And that right you're clearly privileged!!
What is the mic you're using to record ?
this is the musical idea which was conceived when my car broke down at 2 am in the park and I ended up drumming to the most beautiful meteor shower I ever saw ;-). Yes, I am still new and slow with all this but it IS a lot of fun.
thanks for the ... By: 123poan123. on 08 Mar 11, 05:03:05 thanks for the reply! I have played drums and percussion for 8 going on 9 years, i mostly play percussion (canjon, djembe, tambourine, bells) along with my brother who plays classical and acoustic guitar. I have my name on the waiting list for HALO (which will? be years, but why not wait)...so in the meantime i thought i'd get a spacedrum, in other videos they look and sound great so im sure i will have heaps of fun! Good job, interested to hear more of your songs and stories to go along
thanks for your ... By: ewsflys. on 07 Mar 11, 23:03:35 thanks for your comment. I am still pretty new at this and? I am not a learned percussionist. But I have lots of fun;-).
The bigger one is a HALO XXD, the smaller one a HANG Shang Diao. they complement each other nicely in regards of musical range and scales.
I don't know the Spacedrum, so I can't comment on the differences. But I am sure that the Space drum will give you lots of good times too. It took me YEARS to get my Halo and Hang.
Beautiful song ! ... By: 123poan123. on 07 Mar 11, 07:57:45 Beautiful song ! What sort of drum are these? Hangs, Halo, Spacedrum? I just bought a 13 note Spacedrum and am expecting it in a few months, will i be dissapointed? with the sound when comparing it too the Halo or Hang?
The right one( ... By: ewsflys. on 22 Oct 10, 18:08:11 The right one(players view) is a 2nd gen Pantheon HANG Xang Diao(Swiss built), and the? left one is a Pantheon HALO XXD(US built). I am fairly new at this so my tone production still sucks. If you like the instruments you should listen to some of the more professional guys like Ravid Hang, Omyrhythm, Dante Bucci...
Nice ! What? are ... By: Raymondqc. on 22 Oct 10, 15:42:30 Nice ! What? are these instruments you're playing?
In search of new rhythms. Trying to become more independent with each hand. I like this rhythm, it makes me really relaxed which you can see if you manage to keep listening into the second half of the Video....;-)
my first go at playing Chord Progressions (Eb/Cmin) after a bit of melody in with the Hang (Gen2) and the Halo XXD. Soo many notes, so little time to move your hands ;-). And the fingers are already tired from 3 hours of playing ;-)
My daughter Carla playing one of the first songs she learned on the keyboard, after practicing, practicing, practicing .... not sure she has played much since ....waiting for the next song
