I froze my rear end off to record this for a missing in my 31 days of new years revolutions. It was 36º F outside (and felt like 26º due to the wind) but that didn't stop me from enjoy a beautiful site. This was recorded on my sundeck at the co-op where i live. great for moments like this.
March 15th for my birthday I decided to visit the Houston Zoo. When I got to the chimp room I played witness to the most horrifying experience of my life. This is video proof of how horrible humanity is.
Yes I told the staff they didnt care and said "that ok people do it all the time? whhhaaattt?????
Please tell everyone you know about this, we can not let this stand!
Is there a place ... By: r0g3r. on 04 Jan 12, 14:55:11 Is there a place where the chimps can have privacy whenever they want, or are they under constant scrutiny? I understand that the display shows that these males feel confident in their territory, and therefore, this is far from the worst zoo environment I've seen, as most chimps in zoos will not display at all. Just curious. And just a side note, it was hard for? me to tell if the animals were the ones inside or outside the cage in this video. "It's a very wuzzy line" -Jane Goodall
I appreciate your ... By: phox1515. on 03 Nov 11, 01:46:50 I appreciate your response (especially the fact you remain professional about it, unlike the majority of my other commentators). However I still think it's wrong for you guys to allow people to do this. like i asked the staff I saw after recording this, how would you feel if you were the chimp? his answer was that he would not like it. almost every other zoo i have ever been to (about? 5-6 total) have signs saying not to tap glass and things like that, why don't you?
What Sally is doing ... By: houstonzoo. on 02 Nov 11, 20:47:59 What Sally is doing in the video is normal chimp behavior. It is called a dominance display and the chimps perform? it several times a day whether or not people are present. It does not indicate stress; in to the contrary, she feels comfortable enough to display at a large group of people.
The glass is very thick and the chimps can't hear the people shouting or laughing on the other side. The sound of people hitting the glass is only a muffled noise to them.

I have a real ... By: kmkimbro. on 05 Oct 11, 18:42:59 I have a real problem with this as well, why is it that humans think they are far superior animals, its ridiculous. The reason these animals cannot? survive in the wild is because of humans. We should be able to co exist with them, not leave them to suffer in a plexiglass box. I hate this.
The animal ... By: phox1515. on 31 Aug 11, 19:49:47 The animal shouldn't have to leave. Like I said before, let me go bang on your windows at your house. What are you going to do, without the resort of help from police, are you going to just walk away and ignore me or are you? going to get upset and try to defend yourself.
TheHe had plenty of ... By: katybugz. on 31 Aug 11, 07:19:39 TheHe had plenty of room to leave if he had wanted? to,, This isnt animal abuse. This is proof that animals are the same as us
So you think ... By: phox1515. on 16 Jul 11, 00:23:26 So you think because this is "better" than the wild it's not abuse. Well I believe beating the living shit out of your family is better than only beating the shit? out of you, does that make it right? Just because this is better than they might have been in the wild doesn't mean it's still not abuse.
your a? fucking ... By: SergeantTarkus. on 15 Jul 11, 19:42:11 your a? fucking retard, this isnt animal abuse. The monkeys could be far worse off. Zoo's actually help more animals then the wild.
Look up "Disable ... By: junkintrunk55. on 18 Jun 11, 03:57:57 Look up "Disable monkey" and "A fatal attack on an unweaned infant by a non-resident male in a free-ranging group of Japanese mac " See how monkeys treat monkeys in the wild. This is far from abuse. If all you? have too do is make useless claims against a zoo, you should get a life. They die horribly in the wild all the time. The labs scald them to death and it's ok. Visit a slaughterhouse before you go in the drive thru. See pigs hung alive for your bacon.
They have? a ton of ... By: elsiebea. on 14 Jun 11, 05:43:01 They have? a ton of room to get away from the noise. They've also shown that they love to tease the people right back. They love the reaction they get when they run and kick the window! If they get tired of it, they simply move to a different area of their enclosure.
Crim comprehends what's happening in this video.
So you wouldnt mind ... By: phox1515. on 08 Apr 11, 02:33:45 So you wouldnt mind if I stood outside your home and beat on your windows for 12 hours a day every day, 365 days a year?? If you can't see the stress these animals are in, well then you sir have no heart.
OK what and where? ... By: crim101a. on 06 Apr 11, 02:00:49 OK what and where? is the abuse?
This is a tribute band for guns n roses I saw at a local bar here in Houston called The Concert Pub north. I know the quality is crap, that's because i used my digital camera, it doesnt like loud noise (the cut outs) plus zooming effects it too.
