My father's all-time favorite classic piece. I played it for? him, over the phone, on YouTube. He passed away a few months later. He had never heard of YouTube - but he knew Claude Debussy, that's for sure!

Who knew a Russian could bring out such sentimentality and lyricism out of one of the greatest Impressionist pieces?Oistrakh shows that he was not just a tough-as-nails virtuoso who could totally bring out the fiery flames of power and grandiosity in such concertos of Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky, but at the same time could also be so sweet and romantic.Truly one of the greatest masters in the age of the greatest violinists.Rest in peace, maestro. ?
