Nobody likes to be preached at, especially adults. The most successful churches are those that show love and have outreach programs. People become curious (about religion) and often show up voluntarily. That way there's no forcing a sermon on anybody. Which is why love and acceptance of all people is of utmost importance. Love first and then let god take care of the rest. I suspect it's because many churches have gotten very legalistic and lost sight of the true mission of christ.
