Years ago I took evening classes in Italian hoping to find a girl my own age.As things turned out a lot of recent senior citizens needed to fill some of their spare time attending evening classes. Not necessarily. While it's true that the pronoun is redundant, given that the suffixes / desinences indicate the person one is talking about, adding it doesn't change the? fact that the sentence - as Maha says it - means "she was at school". Furthermore, Maha's version of the sentence is probably easier to learn for beginners with no prior exposure to Semitic languages; I'm in a beginner Arabic class in my university and this is what and how they teach us.
