Yes Ana bahebak is not formal, but any Arab speaker will understand it. learning egyptian/palestinian/lebanese dialect is the best thing to do since its understood by most Arabs whereas many Arabs have problems understanding? the khaliji dialects. So I would recommend studying formal Arabic that everyone understands and learn the similar and imo better sounding dialects of the levant.
